Sarah Robinson Burris, widow of Thomas, died on March 3, 1892, of 76 Southam Street, Kensington, London, England, aged 48.

Edward Burris emigrated, aged 12, to Canada from Chelsea Union with Rev Wallace on 29 March 1893.

Just write a few lines to you letting you know that I am quite well. I hope you are well. Thank you for your presents you sent me. I hunt up my stocking. On Christmas I got Candies and a sugar ?ne. I went to the Christmas Tree I spoke a piece and sung with the other children ..... a present. I go to Sunday school. I go to school every day. I went to the Stirling ........ . I can gang-plough, drag-horse, rake ....., milk the cows. I helped to make ....... sugar. I can feed the cattle. I would rather be here than I would be there.

I am very happy. I have lots of fun with the other boys. We have a hand sleigh. I draw a boy we have name Chester Sills and a little girl name Mable Sills. Richard Reed and I had some fun at the fair it was ten cents to go in I had thirty five cents. I ........ than I ever had in my life. But I would like you to send down my money when you write, write as soon as you can to West Huntingdon. This is all I have to say at present from your truly friend Edward Burris, West Huntingdon

October 28 1893

Edward has grown during the Summer and looks well. He is a clever chap and rapidly learning to be useful on the farm. Attends church. Rather untruthful at first but much improved lately

November 13 1894

Ed was milking the cows and appears to be getting along nicely. has a good home which he would not care to leave. He is well liked by Mr and Mrs S and is very kind to the ladies. He will attend school this winter. Is a regular attendant at Sunday school and church

November 27 1895, with Hartford Sills

Mr John Sills is dead and his son is working the farm Edward is staying with him and getting on nicely. Has grown very fast and is in good health. Attended school 4 months and got on well, in 3rd reader. Is becoming quite useful to Mr Sills. Corresponds with friends in the Old Country.

November 21 1896, with Hartford Sills,

Old Mr Sills is dead but Edward is with his son in the same place, he seems well satisfied, has a good home and will be well trained to all kinds of farm work. He is not a very strong heavy boy but is healthy. Goes to school and is in 3rd reader, also attends church and Sunday school regularly
